About Moi

I was born in June 1981, I'm a hearing impaired paper-crafter who loves all things crafty. I sew, although I'm still very much a novice at sewing. I bake and cook hopefully all kinds of delicious treats. I have a huge passion for photography and the camera {yes I'm old school I still use an actual camera} is never far from me. I also love creative writing from making up sentiments/verses for my cards and other paper-craft projects to penning some fiction. I am an avid reader and if you are very unlucky I may even throw in some book reviews on here too!

With Sympathy

The occasion arose recently where a "with sympathy" card was required.  I never know what to put on these image and sentiment wise so I doubt this is appropriate but the recipient is a committed Christian and I hope the cross was appropriate.

Robot Face

There's a new challenge at:   Ikes World Challenges.  This week there is an optional twist of adding a bow.  I'm not a bow person, they hike up postage charges and quite frankly I loathe fiddling with ribbon so I have gone down the anything goes route with the Robot face on a journaling page.

I struggle a lot with emotions, I feel them but showing them is difficult I get told to grow up and stop being silly, always have done.  Then I feel guilty and useless because I can't seem to keep going, the knowledge I've let someone down by being emotional cripples me physically and mentally.

First Christmas Card of the year!

I know I'm a tad late, after all we have already had almost 15 days of 2017 but for me this is the first Christmas card of 2017.  I've been stamping images and keeping them in my colouring box so as the inspiration hit I could whip up a Christmas Card.

This particular card uses:

Penny Black Stamp {I'm not sure which one sorry, but it's a hedgehog and holly and an old wooden mounted one, which I am using more as part of my use it or lose it stash rule.}

Vellum {no idea where that came from it was in my "to use up" stash box}

Distress inks {to ink the vellum and the edge of the embossed oval}

Snowflake Die {which I think is a DoCraft Xcut one}

Glitter Card, {to mount the oval on}

Seasons Greetings Die {A DoCraft Xcut one, I love how economical and good their new carbon steel dies are}

Mica Powders {to coat the seasons greeting sentiment}

Scalloped Edge Oval Die {Spellbinders Nestability Dies}

I've used Derwent Colour Soft Pencils to colour my image

Wow {pale blue} Embossing Powder on the Die cut Snowflakes

A Cuttlebug Snowflake Embossing Folder for the die cut oval.

I have read about and looked at the Craft Stamper, take it make it challenges for a few months now and never had the courage to play along.  Cards are something I struggle a lot with, I find layering difficult and keeping it clean even harder.  This time I have been encouraged by a friend to give it a go, so here it is my first Christmas Card of the year, being added to the Craft Stamper Challenge.

Anything goes with optional old/new, Modern/Vintage

Hello, and welcome to the first challenge of 2017 at Ike's World Challenges we have an ANYTHING GOES theme, which counts for both type of craft and what you put on your creation.  There is an optional twist of Old/New, Modern/Vintage.

I've not gone with the theme this time and instead chosen to do some art journaling to help me deal with events.  There are certain people in this world who I struggle to be around, their negativity impacts my confidence, their demands leave me physically and mentally exhausted but because of who they are and because I unconditionally love them I still help them and I wouldn't be me if I didn't.

Anyway this is my creation:

The journaling reads:  Some days I feel this beautiful and some days I long to be this beautiful.

Happy New Year on a Perfect Winters Day

Welcome to 2017, it's that time of year when "Thank you" cards are being made in abundance for gifts received over the festive season.  A lot of mine will pop up later in the year as I do not want to flood this post with an excessive amount of cards, that and if I'm honest cards are not something I find easy to make so some may never see the light of day if I get the opportunity to make a replacement.

It is also the season of resolutions, both regular and crafty.  Regular ones I try to keep but invariable never do but this year I want to:

  • Read more {well only at bed time, last year I said I wanted to read less as it was something that ostracized me from people, but I've learnt that I it made me miserable and I'd rather be happy}
  • Eat Less {yes the good old lose weight, eat healthy etc.  Well I was trying to eat more in 2015 as apparently I don't eat enough but I'm fed up of feeling nauseous, my stomach physically hurting and fearing meal times because of the quantity of food so I'm returning to what I used to eat}
  • Eat what does NOT make me ill.  {Yes another food one but I'm allergic to dairy and pistachios and in order to protect my health I can no longer give in and just eat it when people say I'm just being awkward, difficult, making a fuss of nothing and on a fad diet}
Now to the much more interesting crafty resolutions, this year I want to:

  • Be unique and not make anything that looks like anything else I or anyone else has made {this may be tricky I do have a thing for sunset brushos and silhouettes at the moment}
  • Not purchase any craft stash unless I run out {I'm usually good at this one}
  • Not follow crafting trends, they are of no interest, the real joy in craft is being creative
  • To make more use of my old stamps
  • To do more Scrapbooking
  • To do more Art Journaling
  • To express myself and use craft to ease my stress levels and deal with situations.

Right finally here we go the interesting part, a couple of Thank You cards:

It was -5, yes that's minus 5 this morning and the frost was stunning so I popped out with the camera for ten minutes whilst bringing the recycling bins in and these are the results.  I am now reasonable on manual and need to practice something called ISO I think.
